Grandma loved making soups. She had a way of making water taste amazing. One of her speciality dishes was chicken herb soup, and naturally, while she did note the ingredients used, she did not really measure the quantities out. She just went on how things "looked" in the pot.
One of the first things is to make sure the chicken is organic and "squeaky" clean. (I'm still working on the "squeaky" part. :)). She would then make sure to have top quality ingredients, which consisted seven main items: dried Chinese yams, Chinese dates, goji berries, astragulus root, and codonopsis root; and fresh ginger root.
Stay tuned for an "attempt" to write the recipe down. Until then, imagine the flavorful, earthy aromas through the picture above.
"She had a way of making water taste amazing." Love that.
That soup really is so good for the soul. You can literally feel the love in it!
