Expect the Unexpected

Sometimes, the most unexpected things happen when you least expect them. A few years ago, I found myself happy for a couple of close running/adventure buddies getting married to the amazing loves of their lives, but also grieving the fact they would be moving far away - one to Northern California and one to Tennessee. Then came the unexpected opportunity to join an online camping group in the area and a seemingly normal opportunity to co-lead a gathering nearby. It turned out that personalities, skill sets, and chill vibe really meshed - so much so that I gained not only great travel buddies and co-leads, but also great friends to share priceless campfire conversations; bougie, home cooked meals; and joyous times in nature.

Maybe you are grieving the loss of someone dear or a friend that used to be close by but had to move. It's important to have the time to grieve. It's also important to know that joy comes in the morning. Here's to embracing the unexpected!
